Software Engineer, Torch

August 2022 - September 2023

Worked through a period of substantial company expansion, with team growth from 30 to 100+ employees and 4x increase in yearly Gross Merchandise Value (GMV). Managed communication and relationships with heads of three major dental suppliers, while actively mentoring and guiding more junior team members to foster their professional development.

  • Prototyped, built and maintained a suite of API integrations capable of handling full ordering process from all partner dental suppliers, who were responsible for 70% of GMV
  • Integrated with OpenAI's API and created a pipeline to add categorization data to catalog of 900,000+ products, increasing coverage from 5% of catalog to over 50%
Junior Software Engineer

July 2021 - August 2022

  • Established a new onboarding system to handle importing information from dental practices as they joined Torch and automated several key workflows, reducing work from 3 FTE's/Week to 0.5 FTE's/Week
  • Redesigned tracking and shipments framework to allow for broader ingestion of tracking data, increasing percentage of packages with tracking numbers from 55% to 90%

  • Integrated Amazon’s rich descriptions feature with AWS’s machine learning API Rekognition to prevent profane content on product listings
  • Reduced workload for human moderators in Costa Rica, who process 35,000 images daily
